My Background and Approach
My name is Alex Bardole and I am licensed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of Washington (License # 61157561). As a mental health provider, I have worked extensively with diverse clients, including those with depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other mental health disorders. I graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and minors in Political Science and Social Work. After working at an inpatient mental health hospital in Georgia, I earned a Master's of Social Work from the University of Georgia in 2017. Currently, I work in community mental health, where I provide support to a broad range of clients, including children, teens, adults, refugees, LGBTQ+ individuals, and Spanish-speaking clients. My goal is to help each client achieve their unique mental health goals and lead fulfilling lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a social worker, I believe that therapy should be a collaborative journey between the client, therapist, and external systems like school, family, and public assistance. I integrate concepts from several different theories, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I am particularly drawn to IFS, a theory that recognizes the complexity of our psyche and proposes that we have several "parts" that interact with one another to shape our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In my practice, I use IFS to help clients identify and explore their inner "parts" with curiosity and compassion, as well as to foster self-awareness and self-compassion. By working with clients to understand and integrate these parts, we can help them achieve greater emotional balance, resilience, and authenticity.
