About My Clients
I have extensive experience serving teens and adults living with complex trauma, mood disorders, and dissociative disorders. I primarily use client-centered, trauma-informed interventions, harm-reduction strategies, and holistic approaches.
My Background and Approach
The therapeutic relationship is the most critical aspect of the healing process, so I bring my whole self into every session. I approach my work with people as a "partner" rather than an "expert" to build a safe foundation for growth. I have been a member and received post-graduate training with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation. I have completed training and supervision to provide EMDR and DBT-informed interventions. I continue to learn through research and training to stay updated with interventions and offer quality, ethical service.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I actively address the impacts of ableism, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, classism, and poverty on the community and the individual psyche. I am anti-capitalist and support climate justice. I am a parent and a partner, and I understand the value of safe relationships. I have known the terror of living in unsafe environments and how we adapt to survive. I have benefitted from psychotherapy and actively use the same interventions I would suggest to another person. I have experienced the death of a sibling from cancer, witnessed opiate-related deaths, and enthusiastically encourage folks to carry Narcan and access medical care for preventative services. I work with my husband to advocate for a wrongly convicted man on death row and enjoy being a DJ on my husband's punk rock radio show. I am grateful to have experienced a varied and colorful life. I bring the same curiosity, tenacity, and passion to my work.
