About My Clients
Many of my clients care so deeply about their relationships that they feel burnt out, lonely, resentful, and guilty. Some of the common themes I work best with are: -confidently navigating interpersonal conflicts and misconnections -reducing work stress and bolstering career goals -showing up for and embracing identities such as being highly sensitive and neuro-diverse -Integrating their spiritual selves in sessions as they shape core values
My Background and Approach
I work from the understanding that every thought, emotion, and behavior makes sense when you trace it back to your core beliefs. Spiraling thoughts and feelings like, "I will never be enough" and "I just feel guilty all the time" makes sense if you grew up in an environment where the message was you're not enough unless you achieve, appease, and behave. My approach is to pay attention to the specific words you use to describe your experiences as they shape how you interpret yourself and your relationships. Making sense of your needs starts with clarity in the way you can speak about your story. Therapy with me means putting a lie to rigid and oppressive conclusions you've made because, at one point, they were useful in protecting you, but they no longer serve you. I work from Internal Family systems, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Strength-based approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Being aware and active in speaking to the larger systemic power differentials is part of the therapy process. Many of my clients including myself identify with one or more marginalized identities such as in gender/sexual/race-identities, disabilities, English as the second language, and socio-economic status. The therapy process with me is a continuous process of finding strengths and compassion for these identities.
