About My Clients

I enjoy working with various adult populations ( 18 +) and I am especially versed in providing therapy to those who are marginalized. Specially, I specialize in working ethnically diverse persons who may be struggling with cultural and racial stressors, LGBTQ+ persons, those struggling with anxiety or depression, relationship challenges, and couples counseling. I am also versed in providing support to professionals navigating life challenges, workplace burnout, and stress management.

My Background and Approach

Clients have described me as genuine, non-judgmental, having a great sense of humor, positive energy, very relatable and a competent therapist that has helped them effect change and engage more authentically in their lives. Clients often reference the ease in which they feel safe and seen in sessions. My approach to therapy is based on evidence-based treatments such Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centered and Solution-Focused techniques. Considering these approaches my work with clients is collaborative, problem-specific, and goal-oriented that is driven by the client’s active involvement to succeed. I am guided by the basis that the way we think and interpret life’s events affects how we behave and, ultimately, how we feel. To facilitate change I support clients in identifying their personal values and encourage them to live and behave in ways consistent with these values while developing psychological flexibility.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As an immigrant and someone who holds multiple marginalized identities, my work with clients is also strongly led by considering the intersectionality of my client’s identity with specific consideration of marginalized identities with value placed on the clients culture. These variables are important considerations to me because factors, such as gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socioeconomic status, religion, and ability play significant roles into the context of a client’s mental health, and relational or personal issues. As a person who has worked through many life’s challenges and as a professional, I value the concept of resilience. Not the concept of resilience that we must do but rather and better said by the author Karen Reivich, “Resilience is not all or nothing. It comes in amounts. You can be a little resilient in some situations but not others. And, no matter what how resilient you are today, you can become more resilient tomorrow”
