About My Clients

While I work with adults of all ages, I love working with Millennial and Gen Z clients. The clients I work with are typically extremely motivated to untangle generational patterns of trauma in order to create a healthier life for themselves. I find it incredibly rewarding to be a part of that journey. Whether this is your first time in therapy, you're looking for a new therapist, or you're ready to jump back in after some time off, I'd love to chat about how I can help.

My Background and Approach

I've been a therapist for over 11 years and spent a good portion of that time working with clients with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) and borderline personality disorder (BPD) in a mental health hospital, crisis response teams, community clinics, and private practice. While I no longer work directly with clients with NPD or BPD, I am able to use that knowledge and experience working with adults who have a parent with NPD or BPD which is now a primary focus of my practice. I also grew up with a parent with BPD which allows me to bring both a personal and professional perspective to my work with clients. I have obtained training in ERP and devote a portion of my practice to treating clients with OCD. OCD is an extremely debilitating mental health disorder that is often misdiagnosed. Worse, most forms of therapy actually make OCD worse. As someone who has OCD, I am passionate about helping to destigmatize OCD by talking about my own journey and increasing access to treatment.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe the greatest gift we can give to ourselves, the people we care about, and society is to improve our own emotional health. Doing so increases empathy, personal accountability, and flexible thinking. I also believe humor is necessary and helpful when dealing with difficult things, and I can almost promise you there will be times we will laugh while working together. I also believe that the notion that therapists should be a blank slate for their clients no longer serves our current world. While I used to share that opinion of disclosing very little about myself publicly and to my clients, I now believe that showing up as my genuine, high-achieving, recovering people-pleaser, former perfectionist, type-A self is far more helpful to all involved. I am not a perfect person, and I believe it is far more beneficial to normalize the struggles of being a human than to try to be perceived as perfect. I'm certainly not everyone's cup of tea, and that's perfectly ok with me.
