About My Clients

Adults seeking the path to positive growth, emotional development, and strategies to manage personal, relational, or career-related challenges will find a welcoming, safe space. I help adolescents, and young adults personalize coping strategies to effectively manage stress, anxiety, and depression. I specialize in helping college athletes , professional athletes, and those in the creative arts to manage anxiety and develop a more positive, constructive mindset.

My Background and Approach

My goal is to collaboratively identify positive thoughts, behaviors, and coping skills that could improve well-being. I create a safe, collaborative, nonjudgmental space where you can realize and activate your strengths, positive mindset, potential, and coping skills. I believe a trusting, accepting therapeutic alliance with your therapist is the most important aspect of the counseling process. I believe in welcoming each and every client to a safe space that encourages meaningful self-exploration, and personal development. When it seems helpful, I integrate different therapeutic approaches or use an eclectic approach. I have researched bullying in schools and the workplace extensively since 2005. I've interviewed hundreds of adolescents from diverse backgrounds about their bullying experiences, and have presented developmental bullying research internationally. Outside of counseling, I work on youth development as a certified USA Hockey Coach (CEP Level 3) for school age children.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Decreasing bullying in schools, universities, and workplaces has been important to me since 2005 when I started learning extensively about its high prevalence and many negative mental health impacts. I'm interested in increasing equity and opportunities for children in education, sports, the arts, and music - especially in urban areas. Suicide prevention and increasing access to culturally sensitive mental health services for people of all backgrounds are both very important to me as well. Personally, I enjoy playing and coaching ice hockey, traveling, world literature, and learning about different cultures.
