About My Clients
I have specialized training in working with substance use disorders, domestic and sexual assault, as well as young adults and families. I use an individual approach to choosing modalities. She often employs Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Narrative Therapy is one modality that Carol works with consistently. Through Narrative therapy, people can identify an alternative story of their lives, widens people’ views of self.
My Background and Approach
The most important aspect of her work is that she sees each client as an individual with a unique story. She is a licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State and also holds a Master’s Degree in Human Development and Education. Her work with clients is very person-centered with the belief that each person comes to the table with their unique life experience. In her work with women, she aims to support their journey in building insight into their thoughts and feelings as well as developing trust in their choices and their intuition. Carol works with clients online or in-person in Thrive’s Manhattan Office. Carol holds a Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Manhattan College and a Masters in Human Development and Education from George Washington University. She is certified as New York State Counselor for Domestic/Sexual Assault Survivors.
