About My Clients

If you are struggling with alcohol/drug use, or have difficulties recovering from trauma, it can feel like you’re stuck with no way out. You feel alone, worthless, and broken. It feels too overwhelming to try to change. You wish you could just wake up and all of it be over, that you’ll feel “normal” and hopeful again. People can and have overcome trauma and addictions, repair and engage in relationships, and create a rich and meaningful life.

My Background and Approach

I earned my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology at Palo Alto University, where my studies emphasized traumatic stress, mindfulness, substance abuse issues, and diversity and community mental health. I am passionate about working with people to address trauma and addictions- which tend to go hand-in-hand. Healing and recovery requires safety- I provide a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental space so you can focus on what’s most important: you. I will approach our therapeutic relationship with authenticity and empathy, my top values as a therapist. You will gain skills to stop the struggle with things that cause suffering, freeing you up to do what's of value to you. On a personal note, I am a sports fanatic and fitness enthusiast who loves to eat (ironic, I know). My motto in life is “Everything in moderation.”

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. Imperfections are seen as valuable and focused on, rather than the absence or missing parts. Broken objects are transformed into unique, beautiful, and useful pieces- the essence of resilience. People may come to therapy feeling broken, useless, or worthless. My aim as a therapist is to help people increase resilience, and find joy, beauty, and value in their lives. Whether you feel depressed or anxious, are experiencing relationship stress, struggle with addictions, or because you’re just going through some tough times- I will provide a safe space and work with you to figure out how you can live your best life.
