About My Clients

Do you struggle with relentlessly high standards for yourself that make it hard to ever measure up? When others praise you, do you think, "You just don't know me well enough"? If you are constantly waiting for someone to uncover just how unqualified you really are, then you are also constantly on edge. This kind of hyper-vigilance wears on a person and that ongoing anxiety can turn inward and take hold as depression. I can help you find relief from this self-defeating cycle.

My Background and Approach

I love to approach my work with creativity and am also very results-oriented. I will work tirelessly alongside you to get you relief from what is bothering you. This collaborative, highly-engaged approach helps clients to feel supported and empowered, having developed what they need to change or refine things in their own life. My goal is to be available to you as long as you need, but ultimately to work myself out of a job. My clients often come back for "booster" sessions every once in a while or when life brings a new challenge. Allowing for that kind of ebb and flow is representative of how I view therapy. In working together, we'll be establishing a relationship that you can draw upon when you need it.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that we are all on both an individual journey and a collective one, which means that we have a responsibility to work to be our best selves and to minimize the pain we cause others and our planet. My demographic background includes that I am a white, straight woman of Catholic heritage who considers herself spiritual but not religious. Like for many people, these labels have asterisks. I am those things and am mindful of what they may represent -- positive and negative -- for others but I also have other identities that feel salient -- child of an alcoholic, an adoptive mom with a child of a different ethnicity and another in the LGBTQ+ community, a writer, a life-long Democrat, and an avid reader. I love to learn about my clients and their singularity, too, as well as the places where they may feel raw or unfinished. Through openness, communication, and respect, I hope to create a space in therapy where my clients feel safe and supported in all of their identities.
