I believe that we are all on both an individual journey and a collective one, which means that we have a responsibility to work to be our best selves and to minimize the pain we cause others and our planet. My demographic background includes that I am a white, straight woman of Catholic heritage who considers herself spiritual but not religious.
Like for many people, these labels have asterisks. I am those things and am mindful of what they may represent -- positive and negative -- for others but I also have other identities that feel salient -- child of an alcoholic, an adoptive mom with a child of a different ethnicity and another in the LGBTQ+ community, a writer, a life-long Democrat, and an avid reader. I love to learn about my clients and their singularity, too, as well as the places where they may feel raw or unfinished. Through openness, communication, and respect, I hope to create a space in therapy where my clients feel safe and supported in all of their identities.
