Just like any other group, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) community faces mental health issues and unique challenges. However, LGBTQ individuals are almost 3 times more likely than others to experience a mental health condition, such as depression or anxiety. Additionally, more than half of individuals who identify as transgender experience depression or anxiety. The LGBTQ community is also at a higher risk for suicide. Young people are even more at risk, as they may experience a lack of support at home and fear, hatred or prejudice in school. If you are a member of the LGBTQ community and are facing mental health challenges, you don’t have to suffer in silence. Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s LGBTQ experts and get help today.
Integrated Core Counseling is here for folx of all backgrounds and identities to explore healing and growth. My typical clients seeking assessments are late-diagnosed adults who are on a quest for self-discovery within the realm of neurodivergence. Many have faced the frustration of previous misdiagnoses, while others carry a hunch based on their own research or discussions with peers. This diverse group consists of individuals who range from being comfortable with self-diagnosis to those who yearn for the validation and precision that a professional assessment can provide.

I am comfortable and knowledgeable about topics relating to sex and sexuality, gender affirmation, sex positivity, poly/non-monogamy, and intersections of identity.

I love helping people look at old patterns of coping and interacting in the world, and seeing how those patterns influence their daily life. I work well with people who want to go under the surface of what's going on and look at what may be lurking underneath. This can understandably bring up some feelings of apprehension, and we will always go at a pace that feels right and safe for you. You're in the driver's seat, and I'm helping to navigate.

You’re feeling overwhelmed and stuck, falling into familiar patterns that aren't working. When you need to tap into your strengths to push through you’re finding feelings of shame and self-criticism and then you shut down. These experiences can be deeply felt after experiences with prejudice and discrimination directed toward the LGBTQIA+ community. You've tried braving it on your own and are ready for help as you take steps toward healing. You don't have to do this alone.

Many of my clients come to me for support on their trauma healing journeys, expressing a desire to break cycles, set boundaries, and develop a stronger sense of identity, self worth, and trust in themselves. I love guiding people toward more authentic and fulfilling relationships. I welcome clients of all identities (more on that below) and those attending therapy for the first time or the 50th time.

My clients tend to be sensitive insightful people who come from backgrounds where they were not always appreciated for who they are and were sometimes blamed for the problems their families were experiencing. These people are masters of self-attack! People who are more comfortable blaming themselves when things go wrong rather than holding other people accountable. My clients are people who do very well when supported to identify all systems of oppression and to work toward their own freedom.

You may feel entrenched in old, ineffective patterns that are difficult to break. You may feel confused or directionless due to unexpected crisis. You may be adjusting to a change in your physical, mental, or social abilities. Or you may feel that something is wrong without even knowing what the problem is. I provide mental health counseling for individuals in the Portland area so they can navigate these kinds of transitions and answer their inner call for change.
I work primarily with people struggling with issues related to trauma, identity, relationships, self-worth, shame, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ issues, life transitions, psychedelic integration, and spiritual or existential crises.
