About My Clients
My clients tend to report feeling mis-understood, shame, a sense of discontent and disconnection from those they love. Many clients I work with feel the need to be understood outside the "norm" and find their own space in sex and relationships. I work with individuals and couples to heal from infidelity, navigate open relationships or Poly relationships, and identity sexual pleasure within themselves or relationships.
My Background and Approach
I attended Lewis and Clark in Portland Oregon. I view all clients from a systemic lens, with an emphasis on social justice. I believe in understanding social equity and feminist in my therapy work, without it feeling overbearing or forced. I have special experience in working with sex therapy clients to include a wide range of challenges. I also have previous certifications in Functional Family Therapy, and am trained in the Solution Focused model. I am eclectic in nature, and draw from many modalities, including narrative, Emotion Focused Therapy, solution focused therapy, CBT, and systemic family therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all have the ability yo lead a satisfying, positive, healthy life, but are dismayed by societal messages, family of origin or trauma. I understand emotion and a deeper understanding of why we are who we are to be important, but I also understand people who attend therapy want some immediate results. As a lifelong member of the "I don't fit the mold" club, I not only understand where you are coming from, I can see the light on the other side.
