About My Clients
You’re resourceful. You’ve put together all the information about the fertility process you could find. You might have friends or family members who’ve already gone through the process, so you have an idea of what to expect. But no matter how much you think you know about fertility, you never imagined how infertility would affect your mental health. Going through fertility challenges can be a traumatic experience, but you don't have to manage it alone.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Coach in private practice with more than 25 years of experience as a clinician, educator, and clinical supervisor. Specializing in women’s mental health and reproductive health, I help others overcome the emotional challenges that come with infertility - including pregnancy loss and emotional trauma. Specifically, my training as an EMDR-therapist gives me a unique perspective to address trauma related to infertility and loss. I also help couples, who have become divided by their fertility journey, strengthen their connection. Lastly, I am a clinical fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and have served on its state and national boards. I am also a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s Mental Health Professionals Group.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We start relationships with the best intentions. But we can find ourselves overwhelmed and discouraged by the conflicts we face along the way. The journey to starting a family can lead to unexpected challenges. When you can’t conceive, you can feel lost, ashamed, and unable to find the help you need. Many couples manage to conceive…only to face the trauma of losing their child. Fertility challenges can cause you to become so fearful that you end up sabotaging your relationships or distancing yourself from the very thing you crave most: human connection. My own fertility journey forced me to face challenges I never thought I would. I struggled to make sense of cold and uncaring medical jargon like… *Unexplained infertility *Advanced maternal age *Recurrent pregnancy loss. My first-hand experience with fertility challenges, coupled with my professional experience, informs how I navigate being a part of the community, which I am honored to serve.
