Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that's triggered by a traumatic, scary or dangerous event. PTSD can be caused by either witnessing or experiencing the trauma. Events that sometimes trigger PTSD include everything from sexual assault, war, and violence, to car accidents or other incidents that could cause loss of life. It is not at all uncommon for people who go through something traumatic to have temporary difficulty coping and acute symptoms, but with time, they usually get better. However, if the symptoms last longer than a month, get worse rather than better and affect your ability to function, you may be suffering from PTSD. Symptoms of PTSD may include severe anxiety, anger, nightmares, trouble sleeping, flashbacks to the event, frightening thoughts, avoidance of situations or places, feeling on edge and/or being easily startled. If you think you may be experiencing PTSD, reach out to one of TherapyDen’s specialists today to get help.

We operate from a deep and abiding affirmation of identity, a recognition of the role of trauma, & an attention to ruptures in attachment and development. We refuse to pathologize LGBTQ+ people, but rather recognize the negative impact that societal marginalization has on the psyche. We are more than prepared to support a wide range of struggles & concerns, such as, but not limited to: gender identity, identity exploration, racial identity, trauma, sexual identity, grief, & life transitions.

I work with adolescents, adults, and couples. Individuals that I work generally report concerns around relationships, depression, anxiety, complex trauma, and low self-esteem. Through several years of psychodynamic training and extensive time in the consultation room, I have learned how to understand the relationships of my patients -- individuals and couples alike -- by being *in* relationship with my patients, in a safe, contained, and exploratory setting.

Trauma, anxiety, and/or depression, is preventing you from living your life. Even on good days, your negative self-talk beats you you up. Everyone can be hard on themselves. It’s exhausting trying to anticipate when these feelings will strike next. You can’t trust your own thoughts. It could be that your painful past or current stress isn’t going away on its own. It takes all you’ve got to get through the day. And most days it takes more than that. Stuck in a vicious cycle with no end in sight.
