My Background and Approach
Hi there! I'm Katherine, a provisional-licensed professional counselor (PLPC) therapist and life coach based in New Orleans, Louisiana. I love helping people live more authentically and create better relationships with themselves and others by learning to assert themselves, set boundaries, and figure out what really makes them happy. As a recovering people-pleaser and perfectionist (See? Even therapists struggle with these things- they are tough!), I know how hard it is to break old patterns and carve out a new path. As a self-professed mental health and mind nerd, I have dedicated myself to collecting all the tools, techniques, and strategies for healing and growth. Now, I want to share all this knowledge with you and help you grow into the best possible version of yourself. I help the people I work with on lots of issues, but some of my specialities are relationship issues, self-esteem, perfectionism, people-pleasing, sexuality, intimacy, depression, and anxiety.
Why I Became a Therapist
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in global public policy, fueled by my innate drive to make the world a better place. I focused on the everyday issues that affect us all, like water, sanitation, and public health. Working in public policy means planting seeds of change that take decades to sprout. As my career progressed, I yearned for a more immediate impact and a deeper connection with individuals. I also sought to directly help people facing everyday struggles. One afternoon, after a self-reflective stroll in the spring air, it struck me—I should become a therapist! My favorite part of being a therapist is the privilege of working with remarkable individuals who courageously confront their struggles and seek assistance in overcoming them. Every day, I am inspired by the stories of my clients—stories of joy, heartache, triumphs, setbacks, gains, losses, and myriad other human experiences. It is an honor a delight to accompany people on their journey toward healing.
