About My Clients
My clients are actively looking for a better way to live their lives. They come to me for practical tools to make the changes they know they need to make. Whether they're struggling against the endless "yeah, but..." or "what if???!" questions of anxiety, or the "if only" drag of depression, or just the sense of "here I go again!", my clients have a little insight into what's going wrong, and a big interest in setting it right. From session 1, I work to give them the tools they need to change.
My Background and Approach
Primarily, I use Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. I believe in it and see how it can help all kinds of people in all kinds of situations. I am a very engaged therapist. I give a lot of input and feedback, and work hard to support you so you can make the progress you need to make as soon as possible, but still at your own pace. We'll probably have a few laughs and shed a few tears as you move towards the therapy goals you set for yourself.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Nature renews me, and I urge my clients to engage with all the beauty we enjoy here in inspirational Southern California. I pride myself on maintaining friendships from throughout my life, stretching back decades to my upbringing in Texas. California has mellowed me a bit, but I still show a lot of that Texas spirit! I bring a broad range of life experience into the therapy room, having worked as photojournalist, advertising/PR/corporate writer, welder, filmmaker and screenwriter. I recharge through travel, reading, photography and cooking. All this makes it easy to connect with all kinds of people--perhaps even you!
