About My Clients
My clients are diverse but what they have in common is their desire to move through life’s challenges with the goal of living the fullest and most satisfying life possible. These folks have the courage to reach out for support because they know that asking for help shows strength not weakness! (Did I mention they are SMART? 😆) If you are someone who has struggled with trauma or maybe aren’t even sure you have trauma or not but you know something is blocking your way in life, I can help!
My Background and Approach
I came to psychology a little bit later in life (mid 30s) and am fortunate to have been able to experience living and working overseas before this. Some personal family losses and trauma brought me back to the US (and to therapy!) and this is when I decided to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology from a well accredited school. With almost 30 years of experience and even more years of my own personal therapy, my approach has changed and evolved over the years as have I, and that’s a good thing! I enjoy integrating a variety of therapy approaches depending on my clients’ needs. I do believe that our childhoods inform who we are and how we navigate life, and that sometimes we need to revisit the “unfinished places”. If clients are open, I also bring a spiritual aspect to therapy which has proven very helpful. I specialize in working with adults who deal with depression, anxiety, trauma (big and small), relationship issues, health issues, life transition issues, and more.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that our natural state is one of happiness and fulfillment, and that we are all capable of living in this state given the right conditions. Similar to the lotus blossoming out of mud, our trials, tribulations and especially our traumas can be the soil out of which we bloom into more self-compassion, wisdom and joy. At times we need expert guidance to move through the “debris”, and this is where I can help!
