I work with clients in group/individual settings on managing their anger. I help clients learn what anger is, explore their triggers, help them recognize physical/emotional cues felt within their body, develop ways to control anger, and show how anger affects themselves/others. We explore family dynamics, as anger is a learned behavior and can affect how we handle anger now. I approach anger management in a step by step way integrating healthy strategies to self-regulate feelings of anger.

I am not a stranger to grief or loss. Having lost a long marriage to divorce, caring for an ailing parent who passed away in hospice at home, and losing a beloved pet has brought me experience with grief. I have felt that pain but have learned how to carry the hope that it does get better. If you are experiencing grief or loss, I would feel honored to be able to hold that space with you. You are not alone. I can sit with you and hold hope that one day it will get better.

It is my belief that we change and develop from day to day. Each day we make choices and decisions that affect our lives. As your therapist, I would like to help you recognize your strengths and weaknesses. I would like to build upon your strengths increasing feelings of well-being, build resiliency to life stressors, and promote a healthy identity of self. I would like to help you identify areas that may need improvement and work with you in creating goals.

I use a person-centered approach to counseling. Basically, this means that I meet you where you are at with your mental health. I create an environment that is judgement free, safe and warm. I hold space for you to explore what you are feeling and reflect on your experiences. I assist you in processing through what you are thinking and challenge negative core beliefs. I believe therapy is a working relationship where we both come together for the common goal of helping you feel better.

I practice CBT in our counseling sessions. I challenge negative core beliefs/thinking patterns you may be expressing. I assist you in reframing these negative core beliefs/thinking patterns into a positive state. I encourage the use of different treatment modalities such as keeping a journal, creating music playlists, using imagery to name a few. I also help you develop coping skills to handle stress. We will work together in creating goals to improve your sense of well-being.

I take a step by step approach to anger management therapy. We will work together in identifying what anger is, looking at triggers, recognizing how anger is felt within the mind and body, how your upbringing influenced your expression of anger, and ways of managing anger. I believe that anger is not inherently bad. It is how we manage our anger when it comes up that is important within our daily lives.
