Licensed Professional Counselor in Olympia, WA
I have been trained in, and have been using, clinical hypnotherapy for over fifteen years. Hypnotherapy designed specifically for master's level mental health counselors and therapists. I have been a student, used it with clients, have assisted my teachers for approximately 12 years and have taught new students in the hypnotherapy basic training. Hypnotherapy is a creative process that gets to the heart of what is not working, and helps to heal that 'part' of us that is wounded or hurt.
I believe anxiety is a the base of so many issues my clients come in with. If I can help people learn to manage their anxiety using a variety of tools, it is a success for them! Imagine feeling present and relaxed after a lifetime of being in fight or flight. And again, anxiety begins often before birth - a fact I think it helps people to realize.
At the age of 72 I have experienced many life transitions and I believe that actually we are all changing all the time. So life transitions are constant - big or small. And navigating change is almost always a challenge. I can help clients navigate, cross thresholds and move forward.
My work with PTSD starts with my training in pre-and-peri-natal and birth trauma. My training and extensive work with clinical hypnotherapy as well as somatically-based training, T.R.E. or Tension/Trauma Release Exercises and now A.R.T. or Accelerated Resolution Therapy ( taken from E.M.D.R. training) are all to help me focus on and assist clients with their PTSD.
