About My Clients
I like to work clients from all different backgrounds. I specialize in working with people with BiPolar, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Suicide. Many of my clients choose me because I have experience working with people that have experienced severe traumas, such as rape, suicide attempts, domestic abuse, etc. These clients come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and can be anywhere from the ages of 8 to 70 years of age.
My Background and Approach
I use an integrative approach to therapy so I can best meet my clients’ needs. I truly identify with Person-centered Approaches, Existentialism, and Trauma-focused Therapies. Prior to working at Sanctuary, I worked in In-Patient Psychiatry with people who were victims of trauma or felt like they had no voice. I have experience working with patients after a suicide attempt or clients struggling with hallucinations and paranoia. I work with these demographics because these are the most vulnerable and in need of the most help. Many clients are afraid to see help because they feel their story is heavy, “dark,” or the therapist can’t meet these individual where they’re at. I think I am unique in my approach, which entails being able to go into the dark with my clients and help guide them out of the dark and heal. Therapy with me involves empathy, compassion, unconditional positive regard, and zero judgement. I provide a safe and warm space for sharing, healing, and growing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone should work on their mental health and get involved in therapy. Even individuals that are well adapted to their life could still use help in certain areas of their life. Life is not always happy, and it is important, regardless of gender, sex, race, etc., to get help when adverse things occur in life to help channel healthy healing strategies and prevent maladaptive coping. I want to help people reach their full potential, stop feeling alone, heal, and grow. At Sanctuary Counseling, we are committed to the support of the LGBTQIA+ community in our area, and provide a safe space for our clients to explore and grow in their identity. We also are committed to our Manna Basket Financial Program, which takes 10% of our receipts before taxes and is used to provide assistance to those clients who may need financial support. This is our biggest effort to combat financial holdbacks for those who are seeking services.
