Hi! I'm Michelle. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that specializes in treating trauma and young children 0-6 years old.
Clinical Social Worker in Salem, OR
My orientation is rooted in the attachment lens and the belief that we come to understand ourselves and the world through relationship with others. I have 14+ years supporting early attachment relationships and hold a Level III endorsement in Infant Mental Health.
I have extensive training in trauma and trauma-informed care. I am a proponent of harm-reduction practices and that we do what we need to survive. My specific training includes a certificate in Trauma Informed Services, interning with Trauma Informed Oregon and Western Conexiones Center for Trauma Recovery, training in polyvagal theory, interpersonal neurobiology, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, and keeping up-to-date with the latest trauma research.
I utilize Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), an evidence-based model of play therapy specifically for treating trauma in children 0-6. I also have training in PCIT (Parent Child Interaction Therapy) and incorporate other forms of play as needed!
My approach is two-generational, working with parent and child together. I also believe in the power of ancestral trauma and resilience. Trauma is common and often children and their parents have experienced difficult things together. I am passionate about the incredible healing that occurs for both parent and child when working with these early events.
I utilize an attachment-centered framework and am certified in Circle of Security Parenting, Infant Massage, and have 14+ years working with parents and young children in relationship with one another. I recognize that children and parents can trigger each other and set one another off - as such, my work focuses on healing the parent and child together.
I have extensive training in trauma for young children through adults and specialize in treating trauma and stress of early childhood and other Adverse Childhood Experiences.
