Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is well known modality in therapy connecting ones thoughts to their feelings and behaviors and understanding the link between our body and our mind. CBT is often considered a very rational approach to therapy looking at real world problems and thinking outside the box to find our hope and happiness.
Energy psychology is strength based and positive approach towards treatment using certain language to expand the mind and using small movements to increase the energy in the body. Techniques I use in this model include mindfulness training, Mindfulness CBT, EFT- Tapping, and the general philosophy of positive psychology.
Solution Focused therapy helps by focusing on specific concerns thought setting goals, creating timelines of events/activity, and monitoring progress. This form of therapy is educational and behavioral driven with sessions that are 15-30 minutes. As the name suggests it is brief in nature and goal orientated.
We live in a world full of chaos and noise some of which we have control and some of which we have no control. Adjustments happen throughout our lives some major life transitions include: moving into a college dorm, getting married, ending a relationship, losing a job, and even the aging process. There is no guidebook to life but talking with someone about these transitions can help you feel supported.
Anxiety is a biological reaction that has helped us survive, however, for some their anxiety cues are working so well it is hard to turn the cues off causing disruption and maladaptive behaviors or responses to our outside surroundings. I hope to work with you on education, techniques and alternating your perspectives to live a more worry free, guilt free, shame free life.
Trauma is very impactful in our lives (and our brains) whether it starts in childhood or happens in adulthood. I have a special training in diagnosing PTSD and methods to promote recovery. Safety and stabilization are some of the biggest factors in treating PTSD so before jumping into trauma it is important that our body feels safe and calm.
