About My Clients
Do you feel like your emotions and feelings move you away from who you want to be, or interfere with building the relationships you want in your life? Painful or difficult experiences can make it hard to connect with others or trust your intuition. I work with teens and adults who are seeking to understand the “why” of their emotions and behaviors, and move away from feeling hopeless, exhausted, or numb. Together, we will explore your experiences to help you build a life worth living.
My Background and Approach
I utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, your feelings, and your behaviors, and gives you the tools to build the life you want on life's terms. Sometimes in painful moments, we respond in ways that help in the moment - suicidal thoughts, self-harm, substance use, anger outbursts, isolation - but these coping strategies ultimately lead to more pain in the long-term. My specialty is helping people who struggle to manage intense emotions, and help you learn the tools to live your life in a way that feels fulfilling. I am also experienced in supporting the LGBTQIA+ community with coping through our unique challenges and stressors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My practice is deeply rooted in equity and justice. I believe that high-quality, effective therapy should be available to all, and I believe that therapy is one part of a needed community support system to help marginalized communities heal from an unjust world. As a queer person and a therapist that has worked in a queer community mental health setting, I can speak to some experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community, but I recognize everyone's lived experience is different. My hope is that whatever your background is, we can create a safe space together that is healing and restorative.
