Anxiety is a manifestation of our worries, fears, and beliefs about ourselves and the world. I will work with you to develop strategies and coping skills to manage your anxiety, and also unpack the beliefs and experiences beneath those anxieties. At one point, many of the anxious thoughts that are a source of stress today were likely a source of comfort or preparedness. Now, it is time to adjust and adapt to your present and establish patterns that are helpful today.
Who we are and how the world sees us is inextricably tied to our experiences and mental health. I can support you as you process your experiences of oppression, navigate your identity, heal intergenerational and historical trauma, and cope with the repeated and ongoing experiences of moving through the world in your cultural/racial/ethnic/gender identities.
The experience of sexual abuse/assault may be overwhelming, and cause feelings of anger, fear, powerlessness, shame, grief, and more. You may even feel disconnected from your body. I am here to help you process these feelings and restore your sense of safety. I previously worked for a certified rape crisis center, and am experienced in the impact of trauma, and the various systems that you may come in contact with including universities, law enforcement, hospitals, victim advocates, etc.
Anxiety is the manifestation of our deepest worries, fears, and beliefs about self and the world. I can work with you to develop effective coping skills and unpack the experiences behind your anxious thought patterns so that you can more confidently move through your life.
