About My Clients
Many have learned to more fully occupy their place in the world instead of retreating into their minds and old entrenched patterns. Women have moved through depressive states, stressful life transitions, traumas, to find a new purpose in life. Girls have found a place to safely explore their changing bodies in ways that support and strengthen them. By focusing on the body/mind/spirit connection new pathways of connection, understanding, healing, and grow can lead you to a life lived more fully.
My Background and Approach
I have worked in the human services field for the last 30 years in a variety of settings including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, mental health clinics, nursing homes, day treatment centers, homeless shelters, and school/ community-based programs. Trained as a Dance/Movement Psychotherapist I utilize movement and body-based awareness practices to encompass the whole self in the therapeutic process. I have worked with a range of mental health conditions from acute psychosis to mild mood disorders.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that healing happens moment to moment, that we are a world community that inherently knows how to heal together, that we are meant to be embodied, to listen, speak, think through our full body selves. I have witnessed great calamities and trauma and great healing and transformation. This sounds big but really isn't. I found my own way through landing back into my body. From great self consciousness, poor self esteem, negative body/self image I rediscovered that dance and movement is essential to any fully expressed life. That all that goes on in my mind can find relief and expression in my body. That moving and dancing with others in rhythm and synchrony is being seen fully AND knowing I am part of something bigger than myself. I have found home in body and a safe healing harbor. I am particularly passionate about women and girls healing through movement and dance. I participate in women empowered campaigns and platforms.
