I have personal experience in recovery including twenty five years of abstinence from a particular substance which included abstinence from other substances. However, I decided to explore another way of life that would emphasize my well-being above all. That lead to studying and incorporating a harm reduction model in my own life and utilizing it with clients interested in exploring their own substance use and offering flexible options to assist them towards better health.

I am a Certified Gestalt Therapist. GT focuses on the here and now rather than an emphasis on the past. We work how we relate, at times with each other. We also focus on the body, since the body informs so much of what is happening with us, but is often out of awareness. This model works well with music therapy, other forms of creative arts therapy and offers an exciting mix of opportunities besides talking and having me just listen (although that of course can be very important, too!)

As an MT-BC and LCAT, I am so fortunate to be able to offer music therapy and other creative arts modalities into my practice. I have an office space filled with instruments that you don't need any musical experience to explore, just a willingness to see what comes up for you in exploration, whether that's through music listening, imagery that emerges, active improvisation or using music and sounds to express emotion and to access emotion. Music can get to your issues faster than only talk.
