Most mental health practitioners decide to become therapists because they themselves have struggled during their life. As a young teen I developed severe anxiety. It was my monster I felt I had to fight. Later in life, I experienced depression. It was worse than any physical pain I had ever had. It was another monster I felt powerless against. For me, the battle was not just the symptoms and how they effected me, but how would I actually conquer them. I tried many different things as a young man. All the different approaches I tried led me to the realization that it takes a combined approach. Not just one thing like a pill or one single type of therapy. I also realized that the importance of treating both the psychological aspect of the person as well as the physiological part of the individual. I wanted to pass this on to my clients to give them results that are quick and highly effective.
