The work of therapy can be hard, but it’s worth it, and I’ll be with you every step of the way.

According to Shakespeare, "there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so." This is the essence of Cognitive Behavioral therapy, and I use CBT to identify thoughts and core beliefs that lead to pain and difficulty.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a specific therapeutic process created by Dr. Marsha Linehan for the management of emotional dysregulation. I use DBT skills and interventions as part of work with anxiety, depression, personality disorders, anger management, and managing bipolar and bipolar II. I am happy to provide referrals to the excellent providers in the area who offer "full" DBT for those who need a more intensive approach.
Trauma therapy involves three main steps: stabilization or creating safety, processing, and growth. I work primarily with complex trauma, which is usually described as ongoing or chronic interpersonal trauma. It can be developmental (from childhood) or develop from toxic relationships any time in our lives. These repeated injuries can cause lasting problems with self-esteem, mood, dissociation, and more.
Clients with generalized anxiety are anxious most or all the time, often with no specific cause, and often interfering with work, relationships, or other major life areas. Very high-functioning individuals are often plagued by internal anxiety while outwardly successful.
Clients with a personality disorder diagnosis may feel that there is no one who will work with them due to their challenges. Clients who genuinely want to work on the issues that have caused them problems will find me to be a fierce advocate for their wellbeing.
Whether it is one event or repeated dissociative episodes, dissociation can be frightening. Clients with dissociative problems may feel like they are robots moving through their lives, face extreme energy loss, and may have problems with memory.
