About My Clients
My clients want a therapist who understands their life experiences and can help them with stress, low self esteem, people pleasing, imposter syndrome, perfectionism, family issues, relationship issues, as well as cultural and racial issues.
My Background and Approach
Both my personal and professional experiences have shaped my work as a therapist. My personal experience includes growing up as a child of Taiwanese immigrants, living overseas in Europe as an adult, and parenting my teens. My professional experience includes providing individual, family, and group counseling at Duke University Medical Center, Elon University Counseling Center, and multiple behavioral health agencies. I provide therapy by using evidence-based treatments in an environment that is welcoming, reassuring, and affirming.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in providing my clients with a safe and secure environment where they can make real progress in learning the skills and tools to have healthy relationships and reach their goals. Social justice and giving back to my community have long been an important part of my life. I am involved with a non-profit civil rights group in advocating for voter rights, as well as science education for a local museum, and volunteering at a yearly local science fiction and fantasy convention. When I am not providing therapy, I like to walk out in nature, take road trips, watch sci-fi shows and movies, and try out new restaurants.
