About My Clients
I primarily work with adult clients. Typically my clients have an intense desire to improve but are often plagued by anxiety, trauma, or trapped in behavioral addiction patterns. These challenges have contributed to them struggling with self-doubt, hopelessness, and despair. My clients often ask themselves questions like, "What would it be like if I didn't struggle with..." or "If I could only overcome this then..." My clients also often struggle with guilt, shame, and a lack of confidence.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and I have a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. During my decade-plus in the mental health field, I have treated multiple mental health challenges. I have also learned that I am most passionate about treating anxiety, trauma, and behavioral addictions. I primarily use Acceptance Commitment Therapy, EMDR, and components of psychodynamic therapy to address these challenges, but I am also well trained in multiple other therapeutic techniques and strategies. In addition to providing therapy, I have extensive experience in teaching, presenting, administration, and supervision. I have found all of this experience helps me keep up to date with cutting-edge theories and techniques that increase my psychological knowledge.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that each individual is unique with their own set of values and beliefs that can be a great source of strength. Therefore, my primary role as a counselor is to provide a safe environment where people can explore their values, struggles, and history to make the decisions they feel will bring them the greatest sense of life satisfaction. In my personal life, I am an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
