Insomia is pervasive in our society these days for many reasons and to the person suffering it feels intractable. While it may feel hopeless, it is not. Studies have shown that cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), a highly structured 5-session model, is currently the most effective treatment and significantly more effective than prescription sleeping pills. The National Institute of Health and The American College of Physicians recommend CBT-I as the first line treatment.
For some, adoption is the very first choice for family building. For others, adoption is a second choice after infertility, one which they may struggle to embrace. There are considerations that come up in adoption more or less universally and some that apply specifically to people coming to adoption after infertility. I have worked with all members of the adoption triad both pre- and post-adoption. Please see my page on adoption on my website at https://www.taranoonesocialworker.com/adoption
I have worked with many straight and queer families for whom parenthood is the only thing in their lives they have not been able to achieve by setting their minds to it. Infertility can provoke extreme grief and can hold life at a standstill. It can wreck havoc on a relationship and leave partners unsure of how to create a future going forward. Therapy can be critical to finding the way. Please see my page on infertility on my website at https://www.taranoonesocialworker.com/infertility.html
