I provide individual therapy for young, mid-life, and older adults. Through-out the span of adulthood, life transitions happen when many of our roles, responsibilities, and relationships change. Whether it be a quest to feel more empowered, challenge setbacks, or navigate loss, it is never too early or too late to embark on a new perspective of awareness and growth.
My Background and Approach
Based on a humanistic foundation, my approach is a creative one that combines several different counseling techniques. Some of these include; mindfulness, narrative therapy, and experiential interventions, such as therapeutic photography to explore a holistic process of healing.
I have found photography to be a readily available expressive tool to assist clients with many different issues. Incorporating photographic images into the counseling process helps convey and recognize feelings, thoughts, and emotions beyond words. This creative intervention is just one way to uncover the authentic being behind the perfect persona.
I completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. My clinical experience includes working with individuals and groups who have encountered grief, loss, and/or trauma in both outpatient and residential inpatient mental health programs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Before transitioning into a career in counseling, I was a professional photographer for 20+ years. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with teens and adults alike, demonstrating the power of creative expression. In doing so, I have come to fully understand how impactful storytelling can implore a sense of belonging, resilience, and/or recognition of human commonality.
When working with me, you can expect a non-judgmental and empathetic way of being to ensure a safe space to share. By examining the patterns that are no longer working, we can begin to look through a different lens to identify new perspectives and possibilities for you to best thrive in life.
