Hello! Thanks for taking a step toward your or your child's peace of mind. I am accepting new clients and have a sliding fee scale.
Licensed Professional Counselor in Saint Louis, MO
When working with children with behavioral and emotional regulation difficulties, I first create a safe and non-judgemental atmosphere as I explain what counseling sessions with me will be like. I use knowledge of social, mental, physical, and neurological development to understand and support the needs of each child.
I have extensive experience supporting adolescents through understanding themselves, navigating difficult or traumatic circumstances, developing better relationship with parents or family, and gaining greater emotional control. I enjoy conversations with adolescents who are challenging the status quo, as they naturally do at this age, and help them to balance their own wishes with the expectations of others that they find stressful.
I treat each individual child, adolescent, or adult as a whole person, with an individual point of view that has been influenced by all of their experiences. Progress and insight through counseling can come from surprising angles that may not have seemed significant. I listen to all that a client brings to the session with gentle curiosity.
I use knowledge from a variety of easily blended theories and techniques, and draw from my experience with what works for clients. Most theories recognize the importance of our thoughts, beliefs, and feelings and provide insight into how these things interact in our lives and how to become more conscious and intentional with them.
I incorporate mindfulness techniques to support individuals in their interest in greater emotional regulation, pain relief, impulse control, and creating peace of mind. I practice mindfulness myself in my daily life and find it incredibly helpful.
I have worked with children who have difficulty with self control and emotional management. I use knowledge of social, physical, mental, and neurological development to create realistic goals for each child, and work toward them gently and patiently. I create a safe, non-judgemental, and fun experience for children while guiding them toward greater self management.
Due to a personal connection, I have an interest in treating women with chronic mental illness and especially pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). I co-facilitate a women's monthly red tent gathering in Saint Louis, and have a great interest in supporting women to grow past the limits that they have experienced physically, mentally, socially, organizationally, or in any other area.
I have extensive experience working with adolescents in their search to understand themselves, grow into a more mature relationship with parents or family, navigate confusing life circumstances, and manage emotional dis-regulation. I enjoy conversations with adolescents who are challenging the status quo, as they are meant to at that age, and helping them to find a balance between their own desires and the expectations of others.
