Hi! I’m Stephanie. I tend to be laid back, validating, and warm while challenging and guiding people towards facing their hard stuff.

Ugh, anxiety. It’s painful, it can paralyze us, and really limit our lives. A lot of my clients try so hard to control anxiety by being perfect, being on alert all the time, and by masking so hard so that no one sees what we’re really like. Sometimes it is just too much pressure. My approach helps clients build tolerance to anxiety, change the way we look and react to anxiety, and heal the wounds that increase our anxiety.
Many people overestimate the experiences that cause PTSD, and invalidate their experiences, saying things like, “I haven’t been through any big traumas, I can’t have PTSD.” And yet so many of my clients that struggle with perfectionism, inadequacy, low self esteem, and shame have many PTSD symptoms that they brush aside. Identifying and resolving past trauma, can greatly reduce our suffering.
When a trauma occurs, our brain tries to cope by getting our needs met in ways that others don’t understand. Those behaviors are often grouped together and labeled as a personality disorder. I work to take the shame and invalidation from these disorders and help clients learn coping skills and resolve trauma so that our brains don’t need to work so aggressively to get our needs met.
I looooove some DBT. 💗 I know every therapist has been teaching coping skills since forever, and DBT has so many science-backed skills that there really is something for everyone. And it has a trauma informed approach, which is so necessary. Got tough behaviors that are hard to change? DBT can help. Bullying yourself? Get some DBT. Big feelings that are hard to control? Yep, DBT! I’ve been using this since 2015, and it has been incredibly helpful, both for myself and my clients. 💛💛💛
I would like to write a love letter to EMDR. I love that it allows people to process big and little traumas quickly, with the client being in control, without having to discuss every detail. I love that it instills so much hope and positivity. I love that it can be done remotely and in person. I love that it is the brain healing itself. 💜🤓💜
