Soumayah Nanji (she/her)

In therapy, I am an intentional listener and assessor of body language as I believe that the psychology of communication can tell us a great deal about how the client is feeling and adapting to their surroundings. I believe that the client is the expert in every therapy session and I am merely here to help you discover what you innately already knew. I offer support through advice or suggestions based on the information that I gather during our sessions. Thus, I am passionate about working with couples, and families who are seeking to find balance in their life issues, including but not limited to Family Conflict, Grief, Life Transitions, Relationship Issues, Spirituality, and Women's Issues. Thus, I mainly subscribe to the Solution Focused Therapy Model particularly serving couples and families because I believe our life issues are mainly a product of not developing strong relational skills with our loved ones. I welcome BIPOC couples and families to this solution focused safe space.

I believe that as therapists we are mirror images of the clients that we serve and that there are teaching moments for both me and the client throughout the therapeutic relationship. I honor all of the encounters that I have with my clients because it gives me space to be in constant reflection on how far I have healed from my own relational issues and at the same time still work diligently on my personal growth in order to better serve a global community. Lastly, my therapy model is from an integrative approach of solution focused brief therapy, culturally sensitive therapy, and the holistic wellness model.
