I believe anxiety is something that exists within each person. It was created to protect us, but sometimes anxiety can be overprotective. When anxiety becomes overprotective, it can create challenges in our life. I use cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused approaches to help clients learn different ways to challenge those anxious thoughts as they come.
I have worked with women on a variety of issues including marital/relationship issues, self-esteem, stress, and anxiety. Women of all backgrounds experience life differently than those who identify as male, and I think it's important to recognize and validate those differences. I enjoy using a variety of approaches such as feminist therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy to help women navigate through these issues.
Adolescence is often a difficult time as we navigate through understanding who we are, and who we want to be. I will sometimes include family in this process but mainly work with adolescents on self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. I enjoy using interventions such as narrative therapy with adolescents as we work to understand how they view their life story.
