About My Clients
During my time in my master’s program I primarily worked with adolescents and young adults. As I transition to working at DFCC I will working with children as young as three years old to adults. I will be providing services in an individual, family, and couples format depending on what best fits the client and their needs. I have currently received training in telehealth for children and adults and during my time at DFCC I will be getting specialized training in play and trauma-based therapy.
My Background and Approach
When entering into the counseling process I base my theoretical approach on what the client presents. For example, if the client presents with trauma I will take a trauma-based approach, whereas if the client presents with cognitive distortions I will take a cognitive behavioral approach. As mentioned above, it is important for me to meet my clients where they are at in order to best provide the counseling services that they need; therefore, I strive to tailor my approach depending on the client and the issues that bring them to counseling.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
When you start counseling, it may be because you are feeling lost, desperate, and feeling as though no one is there for you. However, in counseling and in this relationship between myself and you, you will find this relationship to be both collaborative and supportive. The purpose of counseling is for me to meet you where you are at and help you work through those issues that have led you to this point. As mentioned above, this relationship is a collaborative one and so at the start of our relationship we will spend time working on goals that you have for our time spent within the counseling process.
