About My Clients

The people I see in my virtual practice are questioning, exploring, and unlearning as they contemplate the reality that their gender identity probably doesn't match what society tells them it's "supposed to be". This nagging, persistent feeling won't go away, and YouTube videos and Reddit posts confirm what they know deep inside; they're trans. Thankfully, with therapy, they find acceptance, hope, and clarity as we map out a direction for living life authentically.

My Background and Approach

Transitions Therapy LLC was created from a mission to help people to uncover and author their identities, in an inviting and affirming environment. Being affirming of all gender identities, expressions, and transition choices is paramount in my practice, to allow people to feel seen and validated wherever they are in life. With this in mind, I use a mix of various therapy techniques to help the people I get to work with. Often, I'll help people to look at the relationships between experiences and the resulting thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to reduce anxiety, self-doubt and increase confidence. Sometimes, I'll help people to practice in session the difficult conversations w/friends and family that are coming up. My work is rooted in a systemic perspective; meaning that I view gender identity & expression and transitioning in the context of familial and socioeconomic systems which undoubtedly affect how, when, if people come out and/or transition.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

People being free to express who they truly are, and live a life that feels freeing to them is the guiding force of my business and volunteer efforts. I believe that when people live in their true identities, they come alive and inspire others to do the same. It's why I am so passionate about serving the trans community, and why I continue to attend trainings and consultation on this topic. It's why I've been training other mental health providers on transgender-affirming care, because this community needs access to affirming, competent care. Further, I am a firm believer in people being able to access gender-affirming medical care as easily as possible. In this spirit, I provide assessments to write letters of support for gender-affirming surgeries.
