Helping queer women get to the root of their issues & cultivate deep meaning in their lives.
Licensed Professional Counselor in Reno, NV
I completed a graduate level specialization in incorporating spirituality and religion in counseling at Monmouth University, and completed a Holistic Health program at Georgian Court University (including study abroad throughout China) focused on eastern medicine, meditation, yoga, and mindfulness. I am also a Yoga Alliance 200-hour certified yoga instructor. I have experience with Buddhist and Atheist approaches to 12 step treatment for addiction.
I support clients who are questioning their gender, who are transitioning, and those who are de-transitioning. I also work with the families and loved ones of gender diverse clients, and provide access letters for gender affirming care. I have the most experience working with clients whose gender identities are outside of the binary, and with those who challenge the notion of a gender binary entirely.
As an LGBTQ+ identified clinician, I am passionate about providing quality care to the queer community. I have experience working with youth, teens, and adults in the LGBTQ+ community in schools and clinical settings. I also work with relationships of all types, including those in the poly community.
I have been an ecotherapy researcher and practitioner since 2018; I have conducted several studies, published peer-reviewed articles, and presented findings at various conferences on the effectiveness of ecotherapy. My doctoral dissertation was focused on ecotherapy with children in school settings. I have experience as an ecotherapist in school and clinical settings, with clients of all ages.
I was trained at a psychodynamic focused master's program, where I also took several trainings and workshops at the C.G. Jung Institute of New York. I work with clients to explore and reveal the impact of unconscious thoughts & feelings on the issues they are experiencing. Together, we will get to the root of the problem, so that you can gain the necessary insight and make lasting changes.
I am an existentially oriented therapist, meaning I work to help clients find and create meaning in their lives. I believe most client issues stem from an inability to live authentically, and in our work together we will explore how you can move towards more authentic living as your true, whole self. Working to increase self-awareness will help you move towards freedom and empowerment to create a life of deep purpose.
Do you feel overwhelmed as you begin a new chapter of your life? Are you at a crossroads? Perhaps you just moved to a new area, started a new career, or are experiencing a break-up. We all need help from time to time with the general stressors of life, and therapy can be a great place to learn how to cope with life’s many challenges. I work with clients to develop resilience and make meaning from these challenges, in addition to building coping skills.
While many issues affect people of all genders, women and AFAB folx may experience these issues differently due to socialization, sexism, discrimination, or stereotyping. There are many issues AFAB people commonly deal with around body image, self-esteem, sexual assault, physical health issues, reproductive rights, and parenthood that need to be explored in a societal and systemic context. I work with women and AFAB folx from a strengths-based perspective towards empowerment.
