About My Clients
I specialize in working with people struggling with issues related to: family of origin, depression, grief and loss, mortality and aging, relationships, significant life changes, and health struggles. In the span of my career, I have also been an educator (which helped form many of my ideas about psychotherapy). Additionally, I have worked with foster families, hospice patients and their families, older adults, couples, and people living with HIV/AIDS.
My Background and Approach
I work with people using a variety of philosophies, but those encompassing humanistic and psychodynamic theories inform most of my thoughts related to psychotherapy. This generally means I am most interested in focusing on emotions, insight, relationships, self-worth, and authenticity. I rely heavily on discussing shame, vulnerability, emotional needs, and creating meaning in life. My work is fairly non-directive, and I will be most focused on helping you find your own authentic path through reflecting deeper meanings and patters that arise in our discussions. I am currently only offering teletherapy. I look forward to hearing from you. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value empathy, humor, and authentic living. I believe the therapeutic relationship holds the most promise for change when individuals feel safe and understood. I believe strongly in social justice. I am a member of the gay community.
