About My Clients
Do you Feel "stuck” or unable to move forward? Feel conflicted or like you are constantly “fighting myself”? Or are able to cognitively understand why you struggle but still experience unresolved emotional distress? I strive to create a therapeutic space that is grounding and calm for all people. Common issues I address in therapy include trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, caregiver stress, family conflict, life transitions, grief and loss, self-esteem, and personal growth.
My Background and Approach
Born and raised on Oahu, I hold deep appreciation for Hawaii’s unique history, culture, and values. I embrace a trauma-informed and multicultural therapeutic approach that is compassionate and non-pathologizing. I believe that human connection, curiosity, exploration, collaboration, and creative problem solving are integral to the healing process. In psychotherapy, I integrate evidence-based strategies supported by research on mind-body connection, somatic processing, attachment, parts of self, and brain-based practices. I am trained in Brainspotting and Somatic Embodiment & Regulation Strategies to help my clients heal from trauma and adverse lived experiences (individual, collective, and historical) and release the tension of survival response patterns stored in their bodies.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal values have been shaped by my multicultural upbringing, personal challenges as an Asian American, interest in foreign language and culture, and study of the cultural determinants of mental wellbeing. My experiences studying abroad in Tokyo, Japan, working with Bhutanese and Nepalese refugees at Asian Pacific Development Center (APDC) in Aurora, Colorado, and teaching international students in the Pan Pacific Program at Punahou School informed my doctoral research on the help-seeking attitudes and behaviors within Hawaii’s local Filipino community to help identify barriers to access and engagement in mental health services.
