About My Clients

My clients are dreaming of a better world, but feel stuck in a world that is causing them great pain and wasn't made with them in mind. They are passionate about change, both for themself and for the world, but might not know how to start. I used to feel this way before I embarked on my healing journey, which has been ongoing for years. I don't have all the answers, but I do have complete faith in my clients' capacity for change. If this sounds like you, please contact me.

My Background and Approach

I use an approach that is consent and checking in based, is mindful of the role that systemic oppression plays in creating ongoing trauma and mindful of complex and ongoing trauma more generally. I have a certificate in working with trauma and have done my own work around this. My approach makes use of art as a tool of self expression and aids you in building a loving community around you. I have experience working with transgender people on issues relating to identity, transition, and emotions; involving entire families in the therapeutic process; working with couples on issues relating to infidelity, family history, and communication. In our sessions, you will take the lead in deciding how you want to engage in therapy - what we talk about, how quickly we work, and how I can best support you. I'll be encouraging you to reflect on the historical origins of the topics you're discussing, sharing from my own experience, and sharing encouraging observations about your process.

My Values as a Therapist

I value supporting you as an equal, rather than some idealized and privileged knower who has all the answers. I believe we are all changing all the time, and anyone can choose to grow in any way that they choose provided they have a persistent intention to do so. I believe systemic injustices create historical and ongoing trauma and that mental health workers participate in systemic injustices, and sometimes inadvertently harm those they seek to help. It's important for me to be critical of the role I play, of my own power, so that I do not inadvertently do harm to you. I value a highly collaborative process that honors what historically has kept you going, and what you are asking for hope to shift in.
