About My Clients
Hi, I'm Rebecca. I believe in building a genuine therapeutic relationship with clients that promotes growth and new perspectives. Clients report feeling affirmed, validated and connected after working together. I am grateful to be a part of that process.
My Background and Approach
In session, safety is most important for my clients to share personal and intimate information about themselves. It is a scary and vulnerable thing to share with someone new and I take that responsibility seriously. I respond with empathy, and I also provide honest feedback when appropriate. You are the expert in you and we will use that in our sessions to decide which avenue to explore and which interventions to use. I help my clients find a sense of purpose and increased self confidence. In session I will share the tools and skills I have learned over the last decade for you to experience them for yourself. You will learn more about how your mind works, and how to build trust within yourself to navigate challenges as they arise.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that the best therapy sessions are ones where we can let go of the judgement, and blame that holds us back from living our lives. I believe in celebrating the wins as they come and holding space for the difficulties. Whether it's the new Taylor album (which I have so many working theories on) or exploring your relation to a character from the newest Marvel Movie (please no spoilers) incorporating your interests and hobbies is important to making therapy relatable and making the hard part sustainable. I believe everyone should have access to quality mental health care, I participate in community activism that supports the LGBTQ+ community and the BIPOC community. I support alternatives to carceral punishment and hold space and care for those who have been traumatized by psychiatric institutionalization.
