I will sit alongside you, support you, and help you identify ways to create change and improve your self, your relationships, and your life.
Counselor in Portland, OR
I have a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, meaning my whole training was centered around the well being of the whole family. I believe that we are relational beings, therefore I talk about relationships in my work with not only families and couples, but with individuals as well.
I studied Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my graduate program. I have been using this approach for the last 3 years with individuals and children. I believe that our minds, bodies, and our choices go hand in hand. I talk about thoughts, feelings, and actions with my clients to gain insight into personal growth and to make mindful changes around a particular problem.
I studied Narrative Therapy in my graduate program, and currently practice with this approach. I believe everyone has a story to tell, and they can get to choose how to write it. I also use metaphors in my language with clients, as they can bring about another perspective or a way of looking at a problem in a different way.
I have struggled with anxiety my whole life and understand how difficult it can be to live with. I believe anyone can manage their anxiety. I have experience working with children and individuals who battle with anxiety. I work along side you to provide you with new coping skills. I also use mindfulness and somatic work.
It took me years to be diagnosed with a definite chronic illness, but there is hope in being able to maintain and gain acceptance in the pain. If you are living with autoimmune disease or chronic inflammation, I hope that I can help reduce the stress that comes along with the chronic pain or illness. I use mindfulness and somatic based approaches.
I have been working with children for the last three years. I was part of a Child and Family Program at an Outpatient Community Mental Health setting for the last 2 years where I have experience working with foster parents, co-parenting, single parents and their children. I have experience working with children with a trauma history, who are struggling with anxiety, ADHD, life transitions, and who have been struggling in school. I encourage caregiver involvement.
