About My Clients

I work best with LGBTQ clients, chronically ill/disabled clients, ADHDer & autistic clients, clients who want to heal from diet culture, and clients who have survived trauma. Additionally, I have experience with sex workers, kink, polyamory, religious trauma, cancer and terminal illnesses, & relationship counseling with partners of differing neurotypes. I'm also passionate about working with grief and loss, union tradesworkers, and fellow geeks and fandoms.

My Background and Approach

My warm, empathetic approach focuses on connection. I’m here to meet you- the whole you- not just the individual aspects of your life. I utilize an eclectic approach to counseling, starting with an affirming, strengths-based, person-centered foundation. I then pull knowledge, skills, & techniques from various modalities to customize therapy specifically to meet your unique needs. Some of my favorite modalities are IFS, EMDR, DBT, EFT, Gottman method, and geek/narrative therapy. I work within a holistic (whole person), trauma-informed approach based in intersectional liberation feminism, radical psychology & harm-reduction. I see how external, systemic oppression affects you. I do not view your neurotype or identity as a flaw; you don’t need to be “fixed”, “cured”, or “normal” to be worthy of love. Lastly, all of my work is consent-based and I am passionate about empowering my clients.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe everyone can benefit from counseling. I believe we all can grow, flourish, and heal with the right support, encouragement, & guidance. I believe it’s okay to be where you are right now, as you are. Life isn’t a race or competition- it’s all about the journey, even if it’s hard. As a member of LGBT & disabled communities, I highly value found family and the power of shared lived experiences. I am passionate about dismantling oppression. I value healthy relationships and communication. I value the power that comes with boundaries & I wholeheartedly believe in cutting toxicity out of our lives. I value knowing your worth and rejecting obligation. I also value cultural humility. I strive to learn from both my communities and communities I am not part of. I value the power of owning your mistakes and ignorance, and growing from that vulnerability.
