I am a relationship specialist. I help people create better relationships with themselves, their bodies, partner(s), their worlds.
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Onalaska, WI
Dissociation is a brilliant way to escape when nothing else was available. I have so much respect and compassion for folks with dissociative abilities. Together, we can figure out how you can use this as a gifting without it getting in the way of your life.
I spent four years working part-time in Sparta, mostly working with veterans and their families. I've also witnessed first-hand what PTSD can do to a person and a family. I've worked with PTSD (simple and complex) since I started my training as a therapist. It's miserable, but it doesn't have to be a death sentence. We can figure it out together.
Relationships are hard, particularly if they weren't modeled in a helpful way in childhood. I have done trainings in attachment across the lifespan and ways we can help you create the relationships that you want.
I completed the EMDRIA approved EMDR training in 2016. Since then, I have taken advanced trainings in pre-verbal trauma and attachment trauma with EMDR. I have used EMDR with (no exaggeration) hundreds of clients. I'm also in consultation with folks who have done this longer so I can make sure that what I'm doing is best for you. No treatment is a miracle, but this is powerful stuff.
I am nearly done with level II of sensorimotor psychotherapy. When I'm done, it will be a total of 270 hours of training. My trainer asked me to help her teach level I next fall, which should help me understand this approach even more. I love how SP helps us process trauma where it's stored--in the body. You are probably aware of your physical symptoms. SP can help us address those compassionately and directly.
I'm certified in Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Adaptive Internal Resource Network Therapy. I spent 18 months working with adolescents with trauma in residential treatment, 18 months doing in-home family therapy with trauma, and four years with the Sexual Abuse Counseling program at Gundersen. It's important to me that folks feel they are treated with dignity and respect and guide what they want for treatment.
