About My Clients
I see my clients as insightful and willing to acknowledge both the roadblocks in front of them as well as their strengths. We would work on understanding one's own emotions and internal states in order to better interact with their world and themselves.
My Background and Approach
I have been interested in the helping professions for years and I am focused on fostering a safe space for all clients to speak openly about life circumstances. I take on a person-centered approach to ensure clients are being heard and accepted as they are. I also use evidence-based treatments, such as mentalization-based treatment, which can be helpful in understanding one's thoughts and feelings as well as the thoughts and feelings of others. I currently have my MHC-LP and working under a licensed supervisor.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I see you as the expert of your own experience. Therefore, I believe that listening is the first step in ensuring you have a safe space. While I may not have all of your cultural knowledge, I do my best to understand your experience to the fullest extent. It is imperative to provide culturally competent practice, and I am always open to feedback. One of the most significant flaws can be pretending that one knows it all, which can damage our relationship and the therapeutic profession as a whole. I seek new knowledge, stay informed, and as up-to-date as possible to continue my cultural competency.
