About My Clients
If you're someone that is having trouble with perfectionism, it can feel like there is this never-ending pressure on you to hit un-achievable standards. You feel a need to be in control of something in your life before everything unravels. You feel stressed, frustrated, and that no one understands the pressure you have on yourself. You wish you could wave a magic wand and everything could go according to your plan. You want to be able to plan your future and feel assured.
My Background and Approach
I hold a Master's in Counseling and a Bachelor's in Psychology. I've worked with ages 3-75 in different capacities and specialize in: anxiety, communication, depression, life transitions, perfectionism, premarital counseling, self-harm, and stress management. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), am a certified Prepare Enrich Facilitator and Trainer, certified SYMBIS facilitator, and have completed Levels 1, 2 and 3 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy training. My approach with clients is supportive when needed, but mostly direct and solution-focused. My clients say I'm fun and sarcastic. I will call you out on excuses and help you hit your goals. You know you best, and we will work together to make therapy the best experience possible for you. I sometimes give homework to make sure you really learn what we've covered in session. We'll cover the ways that our mind and body are connected to make healthy changes.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm a strong advocate that anyone can benefit from therapy. Having a chance to talk to someone without bias, that will support you and what is best for you, is priceless. In the past, I volunteered with Crisis Text Line, a text-based hotline. I'm a big believer in giving back through volunteering in some way. It helps to give us purpose to help others.
