About My Clients
Rachael has worked with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. This experience encompasses clients with anxiety and depression, difficult life transitions, grief and loss, parenting issues, addiction and substance abuse, PTSD, trauma, and subpar school and job performance.
My Background and Approach
Rachael Seldin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Advanced Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (ADV CASAC) and founder of Heart in Hand Psychotherapy. She received her Bachelors in Psychology at Stony Brook University and her Masters in Social Work from NYU Silver School of Social Work. In addition, she has received her Completion of EMDR Basic Training. Rachael’s approach to treatment is client centered meaning that she views her clients as the experts on their own lives. We will detail your goals of treatment and break them down into smaller incremental goals. Rachael believes empathy is critical to building our therapeutic relationship and it is important for your therapist to come from a non-judgmental stance. Rachael is well versed in multiple therapies including strengths based, motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT, and trauma informed care. Together we will determine what therapy approach is most suitable for your needs.
