About My Clients

(Sorry, no current openings--please check back soon) If you have been through traumatic experiences then you know the impact they can have--depression, anger, anxiety, shame, self-harm, increased substance use, feeling out of control, problems with relationships. You may also feel disconnected, numb, unable to focus, or even suicidal. However, with more knowledge and understanding of how your brain copes with trauma, you can overcome and recover from these effects.

My Background and Approach

I will help you learn more about how trauma has affected you and what you can do to effectively manage your symptoms. We'll talk about the workings of the brain, and what specifically your brain does to try to help you cope. Everyone copes differently and with that in mind, we will find healthy alternatives to some of the less helpful coping mechanisms your brain might be using. I will not expect you to disclose all the details of your trauma but I am also open to hearing about it if it is helpful for you. If needed, we can use EMDR to help manage distress you may experience from traumatic memories. My years of training, supervision and experience in the area of dissociation treatment will help you learn how to feel more grounded and in control. I provide therapy to therapists (hey, we need it too!). I am an LGBTQ+ ally and I support racial justice. Please note that my practice hours are evenings only and some Saturdays.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

We develop much like trees whose trunks have many rings from layers of growth over the years. It really helps to pay attention to some of our innermost layers and take care of them. You may have become stuck in the time when your trauma occurred and not even realize it. I have watched people heal when they realize that they have some inner parts of themselves in need of nurturing. This may sound weird but it is true for all of us. Let's face it, lots of us have an inner angry teenager! I believe that this is an important part of healing from trauma.
