About My Clients
Have you heard the saying "Trauma lives in the body," believe it, but don't know where to start? Are you critical of oppressive power structures within the therapy world (and in your day to day life)? People who see me for therapy may be struggling with complex trauma. They might be tired of anxiety running their life. Maybe they have relational difficulties or attachment issues. Perhaps they've hit a plateau in talk therapy, or they need help making sense of an ineffable psychedelic experience.
My Background and Approach
The expert on you is you. I am here to help you find what you already know but haven’t realized yet - the things about you that are strong, resilient, and bright, even if you feel lost in the dark. I believe wholeheartedly that everyone has their own inner healer who knows the way, and they just need to feel safe and present enough to hear it. To help you connect with your inner healer, I offer somatic modalities, which means we will center your present moment body experience and focus healing from the bottom up. Through this, you’ll recognize the ways your body has learned to create wise, adaptive survival strategies and coping mechanisms. These things may no longer be serving you, but that doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you. I am a compassionate gentle guide who can help you feel like someBODY. Allow me to help you find what’s right with you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My work as a therapist is sits on the foundation of an undergrad degree in Women's and Gender Studies. As a trans* Feminist, I see the ways in which cultural and structural influences like capitalism, racism, and sexism create adversity and contribute to what society views as mental illness. I’m not here to view you through the lens of of your symptoms, and I will never ask you to explain or validate your identity to me (you likely do that enough in day-to-day life). I practice somatics because I believe that embodiment is a political act. When we are embodied in belonging together, this offers a place to view the world differently, to inspire and allow us to see what's truly possible.
